Teresa Gabelman is a good paranormal romance writer. I have enjoyed her Protectors series as well as the Lee County Wolves spinoff. That being said, I have to say that I did enjoy the first book of this series more than this one. Hunter is a wolf shifter who has been running from his fated mate for years. Emily, his human fated mate, has had a very difficult life since childhood. She has no idea that Hunter is her mate. She knows she has felt a connection to him for as long as she has known him, but his behavior towards her up to the events in this book leave a lot to be desired. After spending some time away from the pack helping his vampire friend (Protectors series crossover), Hunter returns to his pack to find it being threatened by outside shifters who are attempting to take over the pack from his brother (Alpha wolf Garrett from book 1 - Forbidden Hunger) due in part to Hunter's actions that exposed the existence of shifters to the rest of the world. An encounter with Emily finally convinces him that he should stop fighting fate and pursue his mate. However, with all the issues going on, overcoming his mate's not so favorable views regarding his past behavior is not easy. Or it shouldn't be. This is my issue with the book. I am not a fan of excessive melodrama, but in this case and taking into consideration Hunter's previous behavior towards Emily, I think the author made it too easy for him to get into her good graces. Emily had a tough life and Hunter, who suspected she was his mate all along even if he kept trying to deny it, made it more difficult. Obviously Hunter's actions in this book were different from how he had previously behaved, but it just was not enough for me as a reader. I felt that Emily was a strong character and the author weakened her by having her capitulate to Hunter's charms so quickly. I don't think she should have kept a grudge, but forgiving and trusting are two different things. I think Hunter should have had to work harder to gain Emily's trust.Overall, the book was well written. I liked the characters. The overall story arc of both the Protectors and Lee County Wolves is very entertaining and I will continue to read both series to see what happens to characters in the future. I am really interested in what will happen to Steve and if Leda will end up in a Protectors book in the future. All series have their ups and downs. Forbidden Hunger was a solid installment, but not the best in my opinion. I did like it better than Adam (The Protectors). That was another book where I thought the hero got an easy pass from the heroine, too easy considering past actions. Fans of both series will want to read this book. For those who are new to the series, even though it is technically a stand-alone, I would highly recommend you start with book one.

Emily knows this won't be easy, she has spent most of her life living for others, making them happy. Emily decides to be brave by putting her past behind her, even if she is a little broken, even if her future doesn't have Hunter in it.

I love Teresa Gabelmans work. A good author has the ability to make you feel their story. Ms. Gabelman does that. I loved Emily's character. She didn't accept that any love was better than searching for the one only meant for her. Ms. Gabelman through these characters shows us love doesn't care about money, prejudices, or sins of the past. When it's real it burns hot and bright even in the darkest moments, and it's never over! I wait with baited breath for the everything Ms. Gabelman writes.
What can I say about the craziness that is Hunter? He's a wolf that makes you want to smack him and melts your panties at the same time!!
We came to know Hunter in Forbidden Hunger, but came to love when he protected Jill in A Warrior Wedding, now he's back home to face the consequences of his actions of showing the world shifters are real.
Wow, I can't get over how much Hunter grew from Garrett's book being with the Warriors was soo good for him. Then again being with them would be good for anybody!!!
Emily is human living under the protection of the Lee County Pack and has been since she was a kid and she's been in love with Hunter since he and his brothers came to town.
Love Emily, she's such a firecracker!! She has taken shit for years and isn't about to anymore and lets everyone, including Hunter, know it.
The interaction between those two breaks my heart and makes me happy at the same time! Finding out about Hunter's childhood makes things understandable but it still hard, and seeing the way he is willing to do anything to make up the way he treated Emily as a teenager shows just how much he has grown.
When a group comes to town to try and take over all kinds of shit goes down and the Lee county pack kicks ass!!
I can't wait for Marcus's book and I hope his mate is who I think it is!!
OMG!!!! I forgot one of the best things of the book!!!!! Our resident VC Warrior comedian Steve is sent to help the pack with the Shifters and what the outing of them means with the government. Steve finding a girl he "likes" in town and the way it is dealt with is hilarious!!!
Oh! Oh! Oh!! And my hubby and sister wife Slade and Jill come to town too!!!
